How do I print a document? To print a document in any Macintosh application, simply choose Print . . . under the File menu. A dialog box will appear with a number of options -- for most people it will suffice to click on Print (or press the return key).
Where do I get a userid and password for printing? If you are using the lab for a Mathematics course, ask your professor. For all other courses, ask the lab monitor in 322A.
Why won't my document print?Since this is somewhat aracane, you might want to just ask the lab monitor. If you are a DIY (Do It Yourself) sort of person, then read on... The problem could be at your computer, or at the LaserWriter. At your computer: 1. Open up the Printers folder on the hard drive, and look for the default
printer (surrounded by a black border).
2. If there is a stop sign on the printer,
3. If there isn't a stop sign, double click on the printer icon, to show
the print queue. The currently printing document is at top (here, Math 2 (print)); any queued documents, waiting to be printed, will show up in the bottom window. If a document is being held (the Print Time is marked as "hold"), then click on the resume button (the green triangle). There may be a helpful message such as the LaserWriter is out of paper, or the paper is jammed; call a lab monitor and ask for assistance.
At the LaserWriter: [This is best left to the lab monitors, and is included here as a reminder to them.] Ensure that the LaserWriter is plugged in, both to the power and network.
