All actuarial sequence majors are required to take these accounting classes. All actuarial sequence majors are required to take one of these two Information Technology classes. If you encounter difficulty enrolling in them, go to the Information Technology Department office in Old Union building room 202, identify yourself as an actuarial student and ask for help in enrolling in one of these required classes.
All actuarial sequence majors are required to take FIL 250 and FIL 341. Additionally, FIL 242 is a class, which, together with FIL 341, satisfies the Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) Finance requirements (note however that FIL 242 can be replaced by MAT 483, a graduate class in mathematics, for the VEE Finance purpose). Standard prerequisites for FIL 242 and FIL 341 are replaced by ACC 131, ACC 132, MAT 280 and MAT 350 for actuarial sequence majors, so do not attempt to enroll in these FIL classes until after you have completed ACC 131, ACC 132, MAT 280 and MAT 350. In order to enroll in these FIL classes, you must ask for help from Ms. Nancy Baldoni in the College of Business Advising Center, tel. 309-438-8385, e-mail: . You should be able to enroll into these classes, even though they are designated as restricted to majors, if you are an actuarial sequence major, but you must make your request to Ms. Baldoni.
This graduate level class, together with FIL 242 or Mathematics 483, satisfies the Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) Finance requirements. Graduate actuarial students interested in taking FIL 440 must contact the College of Business MBA Program advising office and request a special permission for non-majors to take it. Such students must prove knowledge of material in ACC 401 class (or both ACC 131 and ACC 132), as well as MAT 350 (or having passed Course P/1 actuarial examination), and MAT 280 (or having passed Course FM/2 actuarial examination). Students seeking enrollment in ACC 401 must contact the College of Business MBA Program advising office and request a special permission for non-majors to take it.
