M.S. in Mathematics Sample Plan of Study

Below are two options for a hybrid master’s degree program that will be offered synchronously in the evenings and summer to accommodate teachers’ schedules. (Note: These are still tentative, so some details may change.)

Important Note: The offering of the summer courses that are listed in the schedule are suject to approval. Check with the Math Department ((309) 438-8781  math@IllinoisState.edu) each January if a particular course that you are interested in will run or not.

Option 1: This option is designed for those who want to improve their teaching but are not interested in teaching dual credit courses or earning a Ph.D. This option will not qualify you to teach dual credit courses.

Option 2: This option is designed to prepare you to teach dual credit courses and/or to teach mathematics at a community college. We recommend this option for those of you who might consider a Ph.D. program in mathematics education.
